VOTING IS POWER UNLEASHED

Millions of people in America today are living without health insurance, without living wages, without clean water, and without voting protections. But if we unite, we can build a new electorate to organize and vote for a moral agenda to transform our nation. So join a movement that does M.O.R.E. — Mobilizing, Organizing, Registering, and Educating people to vote.

We recently released a report that shows how a small uptick in the number of poor and low-income voters will change the political landscape of America. That means we have the opportunity to provide health care, jobs, wages, housing, food, water and other basic necessities to those of us who need them most. Use our tool to get help with voter registration, opt in for election reminders, receive absentee ballot assistance, and join the Poor People’s Campaign in building a long-term movement that will transform the nation.

TAKE THE PROPHETIC PLEDGE

We know that the power of the poor and low-income vote has never been more critical and potent than it is now.

The Prophetic Pledge is a call for faith and community organizations to come together and pledge to turnout voters this 2020 election. We are asking that each person reach out to ten people and encourage them to vote. We are calling this effort “Each Reach Ten”!

You can reach out to ten people within your community or join the next phone bank to call or text poor and low-income voters in key states where their vote can have the greatest impact.

Shifting the electorate will require a mass wave of political participation. We know that the votes of poor and low-income people can fundamentally shift the electorate and their voices and political power will ultimately shape the policies of our nation.

Faith and community organizations that sign on to the Prophetic Pledge are signing on to help build a movement that votes and build the power we need to hold our elected officials accountable to the policies that the people are demanding.

By signing up for the Prophetic Pledge you are agreeing to:

  • Be non-partisan; the Poor People’s Campaign is non-partisan but deeply political
  • Reach out to ten people to encourage them to vote
  • As a leader you have fully read the principles and demands of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival

M.O.R.E. FAITHFUL MONTH

The M.O.R.E. Faithful Month will build upon our efforts to do M.O.R.E. — Mobilizing, Organizing, Registering, and Educating People for a Movement that Votes. The M.O.R.E. Faithful Month is a call to people of faith to raise their voices and vote their values. Join us by taking the “Each Reach Ten” Prophetic Pledge and by lifting up a prophetic message.

We are asking that those who sign up for the M.O.R.E. Faithful Month commit to 1) reach out to ten people to vote their values in the November 3rd election and 2) offer a prophetic message about: What does it mean to do M.O.R.E. as a person of faith?

We are rising up as people of faith! Join us as we enter this M.O.R.E. Faithful Month.

  • M.O.R.E. Prophetic Vote

Guided by the shared purpose to pursue justice and to answer the prophetic call, we are committing to a week-long witness for democracy leading up and through Election Day. We join our voices to say clearly that the fight for every vote to be counted is still our sacred duty. The integrity of a free and fair election in which every eligible voter’s rights are protected is a critical matter of public concern. We call on faith leaders from congregations, synagogues, churches, mosques, and temples as well as those leading national faith bodies and denominations led by the Spirit of Justice and Liberation to join us virtually for daily prayer and action at NOON ET for 15 minutes from October 27th to November 2nd and then a 12-hour prayerful action beginning on Nov. 3rd. Join us.

  • National Call for Prayer and Service

On Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 11am ET Bishop William J. Barber, II, Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival will deliver a prophetic sermon to the nation at the historic Rankin Memorial Chapel, Howard University entitled: “We Know What We Must Do”.

At 12:30pm ET, all service participants are invited to join a Poor People's Campaign text bank co-hosted by Howard University to text poor and low-income infrequent voters to get out the vote and make sure their vote is protected. Register for the service and action here.

  • Live from National City Christian Church: Morning Session

Beginning at 8am, we will be broadcasting our prayerful action live from National City Christian Church in Washington, DC until 8pm. Join this witness insisting that voting is free of harassment and intimidation, and that every vote is counted.

  • Live From National City Christian Church: Evening Session

At 9pm, our prayerful action will continue as Washington, DC faith leaders and voices from around the country lead us in a program of prayer, prophecy, and witness for a just democracy now. The broadcast will last until 11:30pm.

The Poor People’s Campaign is non-partisan but deeply political. This fall, we’re demonstrating the power of poor and low-income people to shape the results and mandates of elections. For years we’ve demanded nothing less than a reconstruction of society around the needs of the poor and dispossessed. To make that possible now, we must bring the agenda of the poor front and center in this election cycle and beyond.

Voting is power unleashed!
